I am looking at the 4 light solar spotlight package and my run is going to be over 30 feet for at least two of the lights and I noticed there are 25 feet of wiring with this. Can these runs be extended and will this compromise the solar panel functionality. Also, can bulbs be ordered other than the 2700 lumen that would be brighter?
Hi, Edward. Good questions. As far as I can see from the site and the download documents, there's only the 200 lumens (2700 indicates warm white) option. Since I suspect there could be voltage drop concerns that are different from those of low voltage lighting, I would run your lengthening question by VOLT CS. They'd be best qualified to tell you the what the max length you can extend the lead wires based on the solar panel's battery capacity.
The solar fixtures use efficient LED boards that are integrated/built in to the design so we would not be able to change the color temperature of those - 2700K is really the standard in the industry and most popular for residential applications as well. As far as the design goes, the 25' lead wires are designed for quick hub-ready install and are what the fixtures were tested at. In theory, you can extend the distance from the hub by splicing in some additional wire but, we would not be able to say for certain how this would affect the fixture in terms of longevity and/or strength of the light output. A voltmeter would likely also be needed to ensure the length you're trying to add wouldn't completely eliminate the functionality of the fixture.
