We just started installing a costco 3 path, 6 light set. Really happy with the quality, but have a question re: transformer installation: For logistical reasons, I have to install the transformer inside the garage. No window inside the garage for the sensor to pick up outside light. When i tested the system it works great, but I see that there is no time of day timer--timer seems to be based on the light sensor. (Makes perfect sense for an outside installation). Is there a way to add an exterior light sensor or program this for time of day or am I stuck. Appreciate any advice.
Monty: You should give customer service a call to confirm it, but the Volt Mechanical Timer for Slimline Transformers should directly substitute for the supplied timer in the Costco kit. It will work without a photo sensor, but you would need to adjust the on-off times depending on the seasons. An alternative, which I use, is to leave the timer off and plug the transformer into a smart plug controlled with a smartphone app. The one I uses automatically adjusts the on-off cycle based on sunset-sunrise times for my area code. I called volt customer service today. They have pretty awesome support--got my answer write away. Simple order of a mechanical timer part that swaps out. Super helpful customer service at Volt!
