    Hello,
I have been researching on Volt and mapping out the front of my house. I would like to accomplish the following with recommendations, please.

    1. Uplight the left side of my house. (one or two 60 Degree Fatboys?)

    2. The front of my house I would like to illuminate above the garage on the left and right side of the bedroom windows. (All-Star Mini with Brass gutter mounts?).

    3. The front of my house I would like to...
    (A) Uplight the area between the garage and the front door. The garage comes out about 4' feet from the house and the front door wall is about 3' out from the house. So, should I plan for (2) two lights with narrow beams or (1) a wide-angle beam to fill the space?
    (B) Uplight the right side, but don't have room for (2) lights with a narrow beam, so I may need to install a wide beam here. Open to suggestions.
    (C) Light the gable space on the right side with I am guessing an All-Star mini. Suggestions?

    6. The right side to f the house I would like to uplight. (one or two 60 Degree Fatboys?)

Thank you in advance for the guidance!

    Tom

    Hey Tom,

Beautiful home - I'd be happy to help with some general recommendations! Overall, I think you're definitely on the right track plan wise.

For the left side, I'd recommend considering using a floodlight to highlight the tree while also simultaneously casting a shadowing effect on the wall. Personally, I'd consider the VOLT® Wide Splash R7S Brass Flood Light - the powerful, yet manually dimmable bulb in this fixture would be ideal for adjusting depending on the lushness of the tree and considering growth overtime. You could also consider adding path lights to this garden bed.

For the front 2nd story area above the garage, I'd certainly recommend considering using VOLT® Gutter Mounts - the compact sizes of the All-Star Minis you mentioned would be ideal to help conceal the light sources.

I'd recommend applying a grazing effect on the facades to help keep illumination less focus on the windows and more on highlighting the textured stone and accenting the wall - this would involve placing the uplights no further than 12 inches away from the wall. Any of our MR16 LED spotlights would really be ideal for this - we offer a variety of styles depending on your preference and budget and the bulbs are easily interchangeable. A 3W MR16 with a minimum of a 60-degree beam spread would likely be ideal for these 2 spots.

You could also consider adding 3-4 path lights along the front walkway/garden bed. Any of our Classic LED Path Lights styles would look beautiful.

I also took the liberty of adding some edits on the front door area. Ideally sconce lights would provide ideal upward and downward illumination (marked in red) - perhaps those already are sconce lights installed? Difficult to tell from the photo. Downlighting with soffit lights from above could be an option as well. Just some extra suggestions for adding additional illumination to the large stone wall.

For the right side of the house, a powerful uplight would be ideal to highlight the tree. Any MR16 spotlight or in-ground light with a 7W LED bulb with a 110 degree beam spread could look beautiful. Or, a slightly brighter option would be a fixture like the VOLT® G2 Big PAR36 Cast Brass Flood Light with a 6W 60-degree LED PAR36 bulb. Ultimate the type & style of fixture would come down to your preference.

The right side of the house certainly has a large open space. You could certainly use (2) MR16 spotlights, or try to apply the same shadowing effect as used on the left side via that small tree towards the back.
