I've read numerous thread and stories about folks using photocell and/or timer but why not a smart outlet? They are $20 or less and include scheduling and might also interface with Google Home / Amazon / etc.
My guess is that most people (particularly those who buy the pre-configured kits) want a no fuss, no muss, set and forget system. Other than being able to turn the system on and off remotely, there’s not a lot of must have programmable options that I know of. But I might be wrong. The dual circuit transformer circuit VOLT sells is on my wish list, though. The one thing I’d love to be able to do is turn off the house lights after midnight and leave the garden landscape lights on.
I am going back-n-forth between Volt and Unique. Most contractors don't view Volt highly probably due to the upfront pricing. With that said, I am surprised that Volt doesn't offer more 'kits' that allows mix-n-match instead of forcing me to buy each individual item. For example, all of the kits are 100W and I need at least 150W (20+ fixtures in front and back yard) or the kits come with 10 gauge wire. Blah. With that said, I will be using a simple smart plug so I can control it via my phone and/or Google home.
