Hi - looking for some help with deciding which lights to go with in my backyard around my pool. These lights are more about making things look nicer at night (although the extra light will be helpful). In other words, this is not just about safety/security. So with these hedges (Japanese Yew), my original thought was to put some 2w wash lights IN FRONT of the hedges and have them shine up (110 degree). However, I've come to learn that I really cannot trim the hedges back anymore (and this is the only way I could fit a light infront without creating a hot spot under the hedge). What are some other ideas to add light with these hedges? I was given this advice, but not exacting sure what he means: "I would use an adjustable spot light with a wide 60 degree, 5 watt, 3000k bulb, slide the glare guard as far out of the way as you can. I would put a spot light behind the Japanese yew, but point the lights on a 90 degree angle, so the light is pointing parallel to the ground. This is going to create a glow behind all of the shrubs. The fixtures generally have about 5ft lead wire on them, so that gives you quite a bit of wiggle room on the location of them. Between the glare guard and changing the direction of the light you have quite a bit of options."
