Just installed some retaining walls in preparation for an in-ground pool that will be dug next week. Would love some low voltage lighting to accent the property, but need some guidance (number/type of fixtures, lumens, etc). Landscaping will be added after the heavy equipment is finished. Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Hi, Troy. I'm a landscape lighting enthusiast like yourself. I diagrammed a couple of your photos to suggest some areas you might want to consider lighting. I'm assuming you'll want to light both the side and the front? My approach to illuminating your house is fairly straightforward. In the front, consider uplighting your porch columns and the other areas indicated by the yellow graphics. Depending on how much light you want overall, you could also light the areas indicated by the orange graphics. On the side of your house where the garage is, it looks like you're landlocked. Consider gutter mounted spot lights for those dormers above the garage and soffit lights for the ground level wall sections. In your back yard, consider lighting the retaining wall where indicated and if those giant trees are yours, consider illuminating those as well. Finally, consider a half dozen or so path lights (ideally staggered along your walkway) to illuminate that awesome serpentine walk way. Hope this helps to get you started. Let me know if there are more questions I can answer. I also strongly encourage you to look at the VOLT website gallery and also see some of the dozens of previous posts which include feedback you may found helpful in creating your own lighting plan.
