When you run a long distance run do you loop it back to the transformer? I've read in the past you should do this to equalize voltage but never seen it done in practice

Working with LED is far more flexible and forgiving than classic Halogen systems - much less math and calculations involved when it comes to plotting wire runs and fixture placement. This isn't to say there are still some limitations - typically we'd recommend no more than 80W or 8-10 fixtures per run, and most runs don't really exceed lengths of 300 feet. Longer runs will typically involve playing around with a volt meter and bumping up the voltage, installing multiple transformes or extra GFCI outlets, etc. - it varies on projects.

It is not necessary to loop a run back to a transformer when working with one of our 12V LED landscape lighting systems.
