Looking to install a transformer with deck lighting & future landscape lighting. Just trying to figure out how you make connections? I seen the videos which shows burial wire hooks into the transformer but when hooking other end up do you use the burial clips? Also how do you hook up multiple lights?
Hey, Jason. I think you’re asking about connectors, right? There’s several different hubs and direct burial connectors you can use to bring power from your transformer to your light fixtures. Think of hubs and connectors as power strips or extension cords that are “plugged into” your transformer. You power your fixtures by connecting them to terminals on your hub or direct burial connectors. Direct burial connectors are compact hubs filled with waterproofing grease. They are essentially for one time use. One other type of hub is a cylinder containing a module with wire taps. Unlike direct burial hubs, these are attached to a ground state. This above ground hub allows you to easily connect and disconnect wires powering your fixtures as needed. I find hubs make connecting, disconnecting and troubleshooting lights super easy but that is only one way to power multiple lights. Hope this helps.
Hubs are certainly arguably the most convenient way of connecting multiple lights - they make troubleshooting and expansion easy in the future as well. For a standard direct-burial wire connection for a single landscape light, you'd use basic silicone filled wire nuts for the common budget-friendly go-to or invest in some ace connectors or direct burial junction connectors.
