I bought this light because its optic degree field is adjustable. The optic range of 60 degrees that comes with the light is unusable for me. There were several other optics I could order, although I am confused about how to make that $2 order without buying another light. For the choices available, at what range (10', 20', etc) would a 17 degree optic have a 10 foot wide beam?

I am interested in lighting up the gable of my house from the mulch bed.

A photo or diagram of your scenario would make it clearer to users what you’re attempting to accomplish and might increase your chances of getting more meaningful feedback. Is this a first level gable or upper floor gable? Where is the mulch bed relative to the gable you want to illuminate? It sounds as if you’re seeking an alternative to either soffit lights or gutter mounted spotlights to light an upper level feature. If so, it might be in your interest to contact customer or tech support directly for guidance. Depending on which G4 fixture you have, you would use 2” or 3” single source opticals.
