about 7 years ago I installed many Top dog spotlights at my house, with the convex, (curved) lenses. These do great at keeping pretty clean versus the flat lens on the Fat boy lenses. Is it true that now only flat lenses are available in the Top Dog line, (Now called scotty?) Why the change?
Fellow landscape lighting enthusiast here. While we wait for VOLT to weigh in, I'm curious what your experience is with the concave lenses and what you mean by "clean". I have a several Top Dogs, All Stars (which I believe are discontinued) and Fat Boys and I've never noticed any difference wrt the ability to shed water or prevent dirt build up. In fact, unless a fixture is pointing exactly vertically, I never understood how the concave lens would be an advantage. All of my fixtures are aimed at at least a 10° angle so water would will roll off regardless of the fixture m model. Again, the only situation where I could imagine the flat lens being a liability is when the fixture was pointed straight up--which would be appropriate in situations where the light is supposed to graze a wall, foliage, or other garden features. Please share your experience.
