I just purchased the Woodsmen Integrated Single Source Led to use as a moonlight, downlight to light the area surrounding my woodshed. The light needed is not a lot, but at the same time I want get the best effect from the light source. My question is how high in the tree, on average, should the light be placed? I also wonder if I would be better served with the Allstar Downlight LED. I purchased the Woodsman because of the secure tree mount and adjustability, Is there a dramatic difference in light effect with these two lights?
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out! Typically, we would recommend mounting at least 20 feet up the tree trunk. The added length of lead wire we provide for all of our downlights also allows you to create a wire connection that isn't visibly dangling on the trunk of the tree. The 350 Lumens of light output from the integrated Woodsman would be ideal for a subtle moonlighting effect. The main difference between the two would be the fact that the All-Star is lamp-ready so, you have choices in regards to the light output (color temperature and wattage). Other than that, you can certainly accomplish the same effect with either fixture.
