Hi, I have 20 Volt path lights powered by a Volt VTR-100-ARA1 transformer. The transformer is plugged into a Caseta smart plug so I can turn the lights on and off along with other outdoor lights. But the transformer seems to be generating EMI interference that disrupts the smart plugs operation. After I turn the lights on I can’t turn them off unless I move the smart plug at least about 8’ away from the transformer and use an extension cord that is even longer. I don’t want to permanently use an extension cord and have to mount these devices so far apart. Does anyone know of a 12V DC transformer that works for Volt lighting and won’t interfere with Lutron Caseta smart switches? Has anyone successfully setup Lutron Smart Control of Volt landscape lighting?
I am lucky enough to have bought the 600W dual circuit transformer shortly before VOLT discontinued it. I actually have two of the caseta outdoor smart plugs that fit (a bit snugly) inside of the cabinet of the transformer. The transformer and the plugs have all worked flawlessly for years, so I assume it’s possible with at least some of the current transformers available. Because I think there’s potentially warranty issues involved, I think you may want to contact VOLT customer service directly for guidance (if you don’t get a response here). They should be able to tell you which (if any) of their transformers will work.
