Me and my partner just completed our first lighting job and I need some constructive criticism on the lighting design and fixture choices.

Eric: You’ve already done a good job with your basic layout, the only areas I would suggest you address are the shadows – the window shutters to the left of the front door, the second floor shadow to the right of the door and the front door area itself. Try adjusting the angles of your fixtures to illuminate the dark areas. Going to 110 degree wide angle bulbs would also work if you are currently using 30 or 60 degree bulbs. For the front door area itself, you can eliminate the cave effect in the entrance way with a smart bulb in whatever fixture you have by or above the front door. An even easier option is to install a low wattage LED dusk to dawn bulb in the fixture. Just be sure to buy a soft white bulb to match the 2700K emissions of your landscape lights. Hope this helps.
