Ranio: A couple of options. 1) Buy some backer rod from Lowes or Home Depot. It comes in various diameters. Buy a large enough size to form a tight fit when you press it down into the expansion joint. This will protect the lead wire for the time being. When it warms up above 50, clean out the dirt from the joint, leaving the rod in place, and top it off with some Sika self leveling sealant. Seal off the ends of the expansion joint with wood shims to keep the sealant from flowing out till it sets up. 2) A more expensive option, but one you can do right now, is to buy some Trim-A-Slab expansion joint filler, again from Home Depot or Lowes, and install it over the wire. It also comes in various sizes. The Trim-A-Slab website has printable templates for selecting the right width filler for your expansion joint gap. Seal the ends of the filler with Gorilla Glue to hold it in place. I've used both options over the years for my drive way and sidewalk wire runs. They work equally well. Have fun. Bob

Are there any studies or anecdotal evidence from your own projects that highlight a correlation between lighting design and community safety?
