Looking at doing uplighting on our house. Was planning to use the Top Dog Scotty fixture on the ground and to light the tree. Not sure what to use on the upper/gutter. Also need help picking bulb wattages/lumens, especially on the upper with accenting. Any changes to the scheme are welcome!

    Hello,

When considering uplighting for your house, it's great that you're already planning to use the Top Dog Scotty fixture for tree lighting; it's a reliable choice for that purpose. For the upper/gutter area, you'll want to focus on fixtures that provide a more widespread and gentle wash of light. I'd recommend using adjustable floodlights or well lights strategically positioned to illuminate the upper portion of your house evenly. You can also opt for fixtures that can be mounted on the eaves or soffits for a seamless and discreet appearance.

As for bulb wattages and lumens, it depends on the size of your house, the desired level of illumination, and your preferences. For accenting, lower wattage or lower lumen bulbs can work well to create a subtle effect. For the upper/gutter lighting, you might consider LED bulbs in the range of 7-15 watts, with lumens in the range of 500-1000. LED bulbs are energy-efficient and provide a consistent, long-lasting light output.

Lastly, regarding any changes to the scheme, don't hesitate to experiment and adjust as needed. You might want to try different angles and positions for your fixtures to see what highlights your house's architectural features best. Also, consider using warm white or cool white bulbs depending on the mood you want to create, and be sure to install dimmers if you'd like the flexibility to adjust the brightness. Overall, with careful planning and some experimentation, you can achieve a stunning uplighting scheme that enhances the beauty of your home.
