Going to use low voltage lighting on deck which is 40 feet from the house/GFI outlet. I also want 1 line voltage receptacle on deck. Rather than dig a trench and bury line voltage out to deck, wondering if I could just run a low voltage wire from a transformer mounted near the house and then use a power inverter to bring it up to 110v for the 1 receptacle?
I think I found my answer. For a 110v outlet with enough current to be useful, 15A, I'd need to have around 1650 watts. Way more power than the transformer would put out.
