Hello all, moved into a new home last summer and finally getting around to my landscape plan.

I installed a foundation tree this weekend and want to get my lighting in before I do much more.

currently planning for several path lights and an uplight on the newly installed tree. Also plan to install two up lights on the large oak tree along my driveway.

    Any other recommendations are appreciated!

    thank you!!

Hope you are enjoying your new home, Judd. I diagrammed your photos to show you one lighting plan approach. All of the sections of the facade on your house that I would consider highlighting are pretty narrow. Other than your garage doors (for which I'm recommending puck lights, if you have the clearance within the door frame), I think you should go very narrow with your beam spreads. To avoid light trespass issues, I wouldn't go any larger than about 15 or 20 degrees. You also don't need to go very wide for your young tree. It appears the layout of your front porch would make it difficult to illuminate your columns using ground staked spotlights. If you have the room in the soffits above your columns to mount puck lights like the ones I'm recommending for your garage door, I highly recommend you light your columns. The ovals represent locations I might put path lights. HTH to get you started.

Thanks for the recommendations! Are there specific lights you would suggest for the oak tree to uplight it?

With a tree that young, virtually any of the spotlights or in ground well lights (if you need something more lawn maintenance-friendly) would work fine. As you spend more, you get greater versatility. Even the least costly fixtures are very high quality, IMO. For spotlights, I’d go with the Top Dog or All-Star. For well lights, I’d go with one of the Salty Dogs. Again, as you spend more, you get more versatility. I recommend that you check out some of the products and reviews before making your choice. VOLT customer service reps are also always very helpful in my experience.
