Can the Direct Bury cable be exposed to the sun ? I have to run a length of cable from the back of the house to the front and the most direct route is a crossed the garage door header. Can the cable be exposed to the sun/weather or is it best to run it through a conduit ?

Should be UV resistant and it should indicate that on packaging. I think ideally it should be buried but protecting sections that will routinely be exposed to sunlight seems like a good idea. I've buried only the cable that's vulnerable to foot traffic or lawn maintenance. Where that's not an issue I've hidden it beneath shrubs and mulch
