I have a 2-car garage door that I would like to downlight from the soffit just above the top of the door. Ideally, I’d install 2-3 lights that give a nice triangular wash (top to bottom) with a little light thrown onto the driveway below. I’m not sure what fixture is best to use - a traditional spotlight with a tree mount, a deck light, or a 3-inch or 6-inch hardscape light, angled back toward the door. I would appreciate any suggestions.

I would absolutely use one of the fixtures linked below, Geoff. They’re specifically designed for down lighting, they offer glare protection, they cast your desired beam shape, and they are the most customizable. You can add lenses and filters that give you the exact effect you want and additional glare protection if needed. FYI, if you provide photos with your questions, forum users can offer feedback tailored more to your particular landscape lighting challenges. Hope this helps.

For a stealthy, recessed option - you could also consider something like LED Puck Lights or LED hardscape lights. They are easily service mounted and provide subtle output ideal for accent lighting
