Hi, I keep wavering on my lighting design for the front of our home. You can see in the image that we have some accent lighting on the exterior of the home with three recessed lights on the front porch. I am looking for help and input on the best way to light the front of the home. My landscape is mostly small for right now and will look to add path lights and accent lighting later on as the plants mature. Lastly, looking for the correct light to use to light the Clerestory section on the upper part of my home and best method for mounting where the lights are not as noticeable. I'd like to highlight the clean lines of the home with simple but well thought out lighting.
Fellow landscape lighting enthusiast here. I diagrammed your photo to indicate one possible approach to illuminating the facade of your home. For a more minimalist approach, you could omit the second and/or third and/or fifth fixtures from the left on the first level and still have a decent and coherent plan. For that upper level, consider either a single gutter-mounted spotlight with a fairly wide beam spread (60° minimum) lamp or opt for 1-3 soffit-mounted puck lights evenly spaced above those windows. If having very discreet fixtures is a priority, you could also use soffit lights instead of the middle pair of spotlights on your first level. You’ve got a very light colored house and it appears that you have a decent night sky. Regardless of what approach you settle on, you should be able to achieve impressive results with fixture lamps in the 1.5W to 3W range. HTH
Thank you for the reply and this is about what I was thinking. I wasn't aware of the lighting options you mentioned for the upper level and will look in to those! I agree with the lower wattage on the lighting levels too. Do you think 30 degree at 2700k will be best for the lower level lights?
