Hello. I have some question regarding voltage drops and loading equally. Looking at the picture, the Hub furthest away from the transformer (left side) is around 80 ft. away. The total distance of my furthest fixture will be around 150ft. I plan on having 10 fixtures, 12g wiring. Total of 46watts. The other two hubs will be on a separate run, 12g wiring, 41.5 watts. In the future, a 3rd leg will be added 45-55 watts. Does this seem reasonable? anything you would change? I am thinking about using a Volt transformer and running the long run on 15v.
Sounds good to me. With a 300W transformer and 12g wire, you shouldn’t anticipate any voltage drop issues, imo.
I have another question on figuring voltage drops. The fixtures come with 25' of 16g wire attached. I plan on placing a hub 100 ft away, using the 12g wire. If I stick with the 16g wire from the hub to the fixture, how exactly will that effect voltage drop? I'm new to electricity so I assumed I would calculate at 15v to the hub @ 4.33 amps = around a 1.71 volt drop. Then calculate and additional 35' of 16g wire at the same 4.33 amp rating, giving an additional volt drop of 1.52. So my total voltage at the furthest fixture should be around 11.77v?
