    Hello all!

I am looking for a solution to make pathway lights turn on for motion. The lights are going to be used to light a pathway, but I only want it to turn on when it senses someone on the porch. I have considered adding a motion sensor that triggers the outlet that powers the transformer but that seems less than ideal. Any other solutions? Thanks!!

My solution might require you to smarten up your home to some extent. With Apple HomeKit, a compatible doorbell camera (we use Logitech) or a compatible outdoor camera, and a smart outdoor plug (like Lutron’s), you could designate the porch as a zone that triggers an automation which turns on your path lights when someone steps onto your porch and turns them off once motion is no longer detected. We get notified when someone steps onto the porch or leaves a package but we don’t get notified whenever a squirrel, chipmunk, cat, fox, deer or bird is on the walkway (which I’m assuming is also the reason you only want the lights to come on when someone steps onto your porch).
