I have a volt transformer system that we bought from Costco a few years back. All of a sudden there are no lights on anymore. I have a green light on and a blue light on. I tried to connect a light directly to the outputs on the transformer and it wont light up either. Could it be the dusk to dawn timer that went bad?

    Hey Mike,

It sounds like your system is properly receiving power with the green/blue pilot lights illuminating, and it doesn't sound like you're experiencing any shorting issues with the transformer not tripping.

    To test the Photocell/timer device:

    (In daylight)
    1. Test in the ON position first.

    2. If the timer works in this setting then, set it to dusk to dawn setting; it should turn off after doing this.

    3. You should then cover the photocell in complete darkness for anywhere from 5-6 minutes (using a towel or something that encompasses the entire device is recommended.) After this time, it should power on.

(With the CostCo transformer which has the timer device built it, you would need to cover the entire face of the unit to properly test the cycling functionality.)

If the sensor is ultimately the issue, we will be happy to help get it replaced for you - just give us a call at 813-978-3700!

So it does not work in the Photocell setting or the on position. Green light on in the on position and light connected directly to the transformer.

Would that be the timer being bad?

If you've already double checked your wire connections, and we know the transformer is receiving power from the green light, it does sound like the timer may need to be inspected/replaced.

If you give us a call directly, just mention to our lighting expert that you've already done the recommend troubleshooting steps for the photocell device and they can help with a warranty claim and replacement order if needed! The number you can reach us at is (813) 978-3700
