We have recently purchased a home that is in need of some new landscaping and landscape lighting. I was wondering if any of you would be able to help with any recommendations on lighting placement. I would like to incorporate both up-lighting and path lights in the design.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Shawn,

Here are some basic recommendations you could consider for uplighting & path lighting:

For the uplights (marked in yellow), any of our lamp-ready spotlights would be ideal really. If you wanted a low-profile option, in-ground lights could be ideal as well. Both can look beautiful - depends on your personal preference and budget. For a lamp-ready MR16 fixture, I'd likely go no brighter than a 5W LED MR16 bulb - 3W likely more ideal IMO. Narrowest beam spreads for the columns (15-degree), 38-degree ideal for other spaces.

To balance out the design, you could consider using a gutter mount kit to add some illumination to the second story. A compact fixture like the All-Star™ Mini Spotlight or the Spark Mini Spotlight would be best for the 2nd story. The spots marked in red could be optional - adding too much illumination to the 2nd story may be a bit of overkill.

For the path lights (marked in blue), any of our classic path lights would be ideal and provide beautiful illumination along the entry path. The 3W G4 LED bulb is our most popular.

    Happy to help!

You could very well continue adding path lights throughout the garden bed(s) around the entire house. Also, if you add landscaping to that front isolated garden bed or any others like it, a combo of path lights and uplights/mini floodlights to highlight any small trees would be an ideal approach.

Also, if there is an open wall space in that area to the right of the front door, you could consider adding another uplight there as well.
